Department of Business and Professional Regulation highlights 2024 successes, including $25.7 million in taxpayer savings

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation highlighted 2024 accomplishments, such as more than $25.7 million in taxpayer savings, industry growth and workforce education accomplishments, and more.

The DBPR’s primary functions include licensing and regulating businesses in Florida. The department oversees nearly 1.7 million businesses and professionals across more than 30 industries.

According to a press release from the department, the number of DBPR-licensed public food service establishments grew by more than 2% in the past year, from 64,325 to 65,954.

DBPR’s Hospitality Education Program School-to-Career Transition Program Grant funding increased by more than $310,000 during the fiscal year, the department reported. This funding will help “further educational opportunities for students enrolled in related industries.”

“In 2024, Florida continued to reap the benefits of Governor DeSantis’ keen focus on business growth and penchant for government efficiency,” DBPR Secretary Melanie S. Griffin said.

Griffin added the accomplishments “tell a story of success” through “significant industry growth, streamlined processes, enhanced education initiatives and strong consumer protections.”
